4.5 Stars for Curses from By Hook or by Book Blog

BY HOOK OR BY BOOK BLOG
I really want to thank Kim for taking time to read and review CURSES on her blog called By Hook or by Book. Here's what she had to say:

REVIEW:  Curses is just one of those books that you come to the end and think “Now that was fun!” It’s creative, and original, and has one of the most likable main characters that I’ve come across.
The book is split into three parts and I found the first two to be the most enjoyable. Martin is a character I wish I knew in real life. He’s intelligent, sweet and funny, and somehow maintains a calm demeanor even while dealing with crazy and unexpected supernatural happenings. I loved his relationship with Hannah, but his dealings with Agnes, the psychotic ghost, had me in stitches!
Overall, Curses is a wildly entertaining book that I highly recommend to fans who like some humor mixed in with their horror. This was my first book by Calvin Dean, but it definitely won’t be my last!

Dandelions Inspired 4-Star Review of Curses

JEN THOMASON - REVIEWER
Jen Thomason's top shelf review site called Dandelions Inspired just published its in-depth review of my latest paranormal/mystery called Curses. Here's a sample of what she had to say:
“Curses” is very different from anything I have read lately and is certainly a genre-defying novel.

Martin’s funny and sarcastic personality, especially his inner dialogue, make this book funny and spooky all at the same time.

There are definitely some creepy elements, but Martin’s light-hearted reaction to everything that happens softens the spookiness and suspense.

Book Review: Single Chicas

Single Chicas by Sandra C. Lopez is more than just a compilation of short stories. It’s a collection of good advice on love, relationships, and life. I like the way the author teaches the reader how to use rational judgment instead of blindly following one’s heart. Reading this book is like chatting with a close friend—someone who will tell you what you need to hear, not necessarily what you want to hear. Each story is only a handful or pages long, so you can set the book aside and pick it up later. But with Lopez’ use of stinging advise and whimsical humor you may find yourself reading cover to cover. 5-Stars for Single Chicas. Get a copy.

CURSES: 5-Star Review by Sandra's Book Club

Sandra's Book Club recently chimed in on my latest release, Curses, a #paranormal #mystery. Sandra says,
"The author infused his character with a kooky sense of humor and witty dialogue, while exploring the sinister recess of a mysterious terror."
Find out why Sandra awarded Curses 5-stars. Read her complete review at Sandra's Book Club.

4 Stars for Gumshoe

Ellis York is a private eye hired to find a missing person. Every character he meets has a past that keeps catching up with them -- and with Ellis. The book reads like a 1940s noir movie--something you'd expect on Turner Classic Movies. Author Michael Compton, an English professor at the University of Memphis, does a good job of capturing the mood and language of the era. An enjoyable read. 4-Stars.
